About Genevieve

Genevieve Fortuna’s Bio straight from her grown daughter’s mouth:

Let me tell you about my mom: She is 100% amazing. This wise and wonderful woman is deeply compassionate and insightful.  Whenever we have mother-daughter “heart-to-hearts,” she leaves me feeling inspired – with a clear and hopeful perspective.  She is down-to-earth, funny, and wise.  It’s as if she is one part Dalai Lama and one part Erma Bombeck.

Mom taught school for 30 years. She is truly a master teacher. I could tell you all the ways she was honored for her work...but instead I’ll just tell you that hers was a classroom that was full of joy and engaged learning, where wonder and imagination reigned supreme.

Mama has seen a lot of kids and a lot of families over the years.  Following her teaching career, she spent time as a school administrator.  But always, in addition to her other work, she has remained absolutely passionate about helping parents to discover ways to be the kind of parents they dream of becoming. Through parenting classes, seminars, and coaching, my mom has shared her knowledge and insights with countless grateful mothers and fathers – always with warmth and humor.

Now that my husband and I are parents, I am deeply grateful to have such a steady and kind source of wisdom and perspective to help guide me on this journey called motherhood. I find myself using the words and tone of voice my mom used with me as a child, and I feel profound appreciation for the gentle understanding I was offered then, and continue to be offered each time I am in her presence.

I am proud to say that, as I grow older, I hope that I can touch as many lives in important ways as my mom has. And, as Lily Tomlin would say, “That’s the truth!”
